Dr. Derek Kerr, DDS
Dr. Kerr is an Iowa native and attended Tripoli High School before he set off to the University of Iowa College of Engineering for undergraduate school. He earned his dentistry degree and earned the Dental Research Support Award and Dows Research Award while completing his DDS degree. He started Kerr Family Dental in 2016 when he took over for Dr. Harris.
One of the things that Dr. Kerr really appreciates about dentistry is being able to help people feel great about the way they look. If they are experiencing pain, he can help them feel better right away. Since Dr. Kerr is a people person, he loves meeting and getting to know our patients and loves how grateful they are when they receive great dental care. Dr. Kerr also appreciates our dental team because they are professional, knowledgeable, and skilled at what they do.
Dr. Kerr has a very busy life outside of the office, as well. He enjoys time with his wife and four small children. Watching them grow up and learn brings him endless joy. Dr. Kerr also enjoys sports, music, and running. He also stays very active in his church and values his ability to serve others.
CherIE Jackson
Dental Assistant
Originally from Murray, IA, Cherie is an expanded function dental assistant who learned on the job by assisting Dr. Kerr and Dr. Harris, the previous practice owner, with a wide range of procedures. She is experienced, with over 34 years on the job!
She loves the opportunity to meet new patients and help them achieve excellent overall oral health and improve the appearance of their smiles.
When Cherie is relaxing, you can find her riding horses, gardening, growing flowers, and spending time with her grandkids.
Pat Elmer
My name is Pat Elmer, I am a Graduate of Hawkey Community College for Dental Assisting, Graduate of University of Iowa with a B.S. Degree for Dental Hygiene. I have worked in a dental practice with my husband (Dentist) for 35 years, 7 years as a Dental Director for Public Health, retired from there. I have been with Kerr Family Dental since March of 2024; I am very fortunate to be in a career I really enjoy and helping patients.
My name is Sierra Selsor, I am a Registered Dental Assistant/Front Office Manager for Kerr Family Dental. I have been with this practice since March 2024, I currently live south of Murray, in the country with my husband Chance, 2 fur babies, and lots of farm animals! Murray is where I was raised with my parents and 2 siblings on our farm. I graduated from Murray Community Schools in December of 2017.
I enjoy the opportunity to being able to meet new patients, and assist them with their dental needs!
During my time off I enjoy spending time outdoors with my husband, animals, and family!
Jaden: My name is Jaden Lynn, I graduated from Murray Community School in 2023. I have lived in Murray for as long as I remember, but recently moved to Kellerton, IA in January with my fiancé! In my free time after work, I enjoy going home to see my 3 dogs, 2 cats, and 11 chickens. I also enjoy going boating, kayaking, spending time with family and traveling. In June I started working with Kerr Family Dental, as a Dental Assistant Trainee.
