Dr. Derek Kerr, DDS

Dr. Kerr is an Iowa native and attended Tripoli High School before he set off to the University of Iowa College of Engineering for undergraduate school. He earned his dentistry degree and earned the Dental Research Support Award and Dows Research Award while completing his DDS degree. He started Kerr Family Dental in 2016 when he took over for Dr. Harris.

One of the things that Dr. Kerr really appreciates about dentistry is being able to help people feel great about the way they look. If they are experiencing pain, he can help them feel better right away. Since Dr. Kerr is a people person, he loves meeting and getting to know our patients and loves how grateful they are when they receive great dental care. Dr. Kerr also appreciates our dental team because they are professional, knowledgeable, and skilled at what they do.

Dr. Kerr has a very busy life outside of the office, as well. He enjoys time with his wife and four small children. Watching them grow up and learn brings him endless joy. Dr. Kerr also enjoys sports, music, and running. He also stays very active in his church and values his ability to serve others.

SIERRA SELSOR, FRONT OFFICE MANAGER

Sierra is a Registered Dental Assistant and Front Office Manager at Kerr Family Dental, where she's proudly been serving patients since March 2024. Known for her friendly smile and calm, organized presence, Sierra helps make every visit smooth and welcoming - bother in the chair and at the front desk.

When she's not at the office, Sierra enjoys the peace and simplicity of country living with her husband, son and their beloved animals. She's passionate about hunting and spending quality time with family, and soaking up the joy of everyday moments.

CherIE Jackson, DENTAL ASSISTANT

Originally from Murray, IA, Cherie is an expanded function dental assistant who learned on the job by assisting Dr. Kerr and Dr. Harris, the previous practice owner, with a wide range of procedures. She is experienced, with over 34 years on the job!

She loves the opportunity to meet new patients and help them achieve excellent overall oral health and improve the appearance of their smiles.

When Cherie is relaxing, you can find her riding horses, gardening, growing flowers, and spending time with her grandkids.

DANIELLE THOMAS, DENTAL HYGIENIST

With over 20 years of experience in dentistry, including 14 years as a dental assistant before pursing a career as a dental hygienist, she brings both expertise and a passion for patient care to the practice. Outside of work, she is a proud sports mom to her three children -- Jack, Frankie, and Monte--and enjoy yoga, reading and staying active. She loves educating patients and takes pride into getting to know them personally, creating a comfortable and trusting environment in the office.
